Straßenbahn 18 · Verlängerung zum Stadion
The extension from Schlachthausgasse to Stadion U2 station has been in operation since 5 September 2026. The new route is 3.1 kilometres long. The project also created around 2,150 metres of cycle paths, more than 10,000 square metres of greenery and 200 new trees.
The new extension is open; the district allocation concerns the extension, not the whole of line 18.
The final development area, “Freie Mitte – Vielseitiger Rand”, is being delivered on the former Nordbahnhof site, with almost 5,000 additional apartments by 2030. The overall site covers 85 hectares and combines housing, parks and education provision.
Ongoing neighbourhood development; some sections are already built. No claim that every park or construction measure is still underway.
