Status of this information
The following sections describe the features actually implemented. The operator still needs to add information on legal bases, service providers, any transfers to third countries, retention periods for technical logs and how to exercise your rights. This page is therefore not yet a complete privacy policy.
Cookies and your consent
Your choice is stored in the technically necessary cookie iw_privacy in this browser for up to 180 days. It contains the categories you have enabled, the settings version and the storage and expiry times, but no unique visitor identifier. The cookie applies only to the domain on which you make your choice; a choice saved on the previous preview domain is not transferred to immobilienwert.wien.
Interactive maps and the valuation calculator are switched off by default. They are loaded only after you consent to the relevant service. Scrolling merely hides the notice and does not grant consent. These services remain switched off without explicit permission. On this page and via “Cookie settings” in the footer, you can switch off individual services or withdraw all optional permissions with “Necessary only”. Any embeds already loaded are removed when consent is withdrawn; this prevents further connections relating to the service. Processing carried out before withdrawal is unaffected. Data already transmitted to and stored by the embedded provider is not automatically deleted as a result.
Consent to optional services is given under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and, where access to your device is not necessary, Section 165(3) TKG 2021. Your choice is stored solely so that it can be respected. If your browser blocks cookies, we respect your choice only for the current visit. The portal does not use its own analytics or marketing cookies.
Appearance and touch feedback
Your choice of light or dark appearance is stored under iw-theme. An explicitly changed preference for vibration and tap sound is saved under iw_touch_feedback in this device’s local browser storage. These settings contain no visitor identifier and are not sent to a server. They also apply to the site’s own maps and the English version. If local storage is blocked, the touch preference applies only to the current page visit. Vibration and the optional sound are generated directly on your device; no external services are loaded for this purpose.
Public pages and technical delivery
The pages are delivered through the hosting Sites platform. This generates technically necessary connection data. Fonts and photographs are delivered with the website. The application does not integrate its own analytics or advertising trackers and does not request the device’s location.
Address search and location check
For automatic address suggestions, once you have entered three characters and paused briefly, the search text you entered is sent via the server to Vienna’s official address service. The request is used to display matching publicly listed addresses. Coordinates are processed for the location check; the address label and coordinates may form part of the page URL and thus appear in your browser history or in a link you share.
The location analysis uses the location data included in the application. The sun check queries Vienna’s building service for the selected area. Public responses may be cached temporarily: addresses for up to one hour and building models for up to one day. No personal search profile is created from this.
Maps and environmental maps
After you consent to “Maps & environmental maps”, your browser connects to CARTO for interactive map backgrounds and map labels. The static map overview on the home page is delivered with the portal and does not require this permission. Climate and flood maps you enable are loaded from the City of Vienna’s geodata service; the road noise map is loaded from the service at tiles.lfrz.gv.at. These services receive technically necessary connection data and requests for the visible map area.
Signing in with ChatGPT
Public location profiles, market overviews and tools can be used without signing in. Saved places, dossiers and correction reports use the platform’s “Sign in with ChatGPT” login. The application receives a user ID and profile information supplied by the login service. It does not store its own passwords. Personal records are assigned using the user ID.
Saved places and dossiers
When you save a place, its name, map area, coordinates where applicable, monitoring setting and timestamp are stored. A dossier contains the property details you enter, the address and notes where applicable, document status, sharing settings and a snapshot of the public location data. These entries remain saved until you delete them in your personal area.
Your own entries can be accessed only after signing in to the associated account. Sharing creates an unguessable link through which anyone who knows the link can view the shared version. The address and your own notes are displayed only if you explicitly enable this in the dossier. The title, other property details, location profile and document status form part of the shared content. You can withdraw sharing at any time. Changes to the dossier automatically revoke an existing link.
Copies already saved or printed by recipients cannot be recalled by revoking access. Personal pages and dossier links are marked noindex to exclude them from search engines and are not publicly cached.
Property passport, valuation history and private documents
The private property passport adds property features, your own cost and decision scenarios, manually recorded valuations with a source and date, and a change history. Valuation entries contain a snapshot of the property details at the time. The application does not automatically read the external calculator’s result.
Uploaded PDF and text files are stored in private object storage. For text-based PDFs, your browser reads up to 80 pages and sends the extracted text to the application together with the original file. Text files are processed server-side as UTF-8; analysis is limited to 18,000 characters. No text is added to scanned pages using OCR. Detected floor areas, years of construction and energy figures are added to the property details only after your confirmation. The history records the filename, page and confirmed source passage.
The passport enquiry uses your saved information and a text search of the associated documents. No document content is sent to an external AI service for this purpose. The application does not save questions and answers as a conversation history. All file requests and private interfaces check the associated login. Original files, extracts, valuation history and personal scenarios are not included in the existing dossier sharing link. A private PDF printout you create may contain this information.
You can delete individual files or the entire property passport. Removing a file deletes the original and the extracted text; property details already confirmed and confirmation records remain in the passport until you delete the passport. Deleting the entire property passport also removes the associated files, valuations and history data.
Knowledge search and personal checklists
The knowledge centre search filters the supplied article data in your browser. The application does not save these search terms or send them to an external search service. The valuation check and example scenarios calculate using your entries in the browser; their inputs are not saved.
If you explicitly save a knowledge checklist, its association with the main article, your selected progress statuses, a version number and the time are saved with your user ID. These lists are accessible only after you sign in and are not shared through dossier links. You can reopen or delete them under “My area”. A text download contains the progress statuses you selected and remains as a file on your device.
Project monitoring and correction reports
For places you follow, matching published project updates from the relevant district are displayed in your personal area. A source check triggered in the property passport retrieves only the general official plan list; your property address is not transmitted. The check time, result and listed plan numbers are saved. Retrieval is on demand, not scheduled. These features do not send emails. Correction reports are saved with the user ID, affected page path, message and timestamp. Please do not submit confidential data in them. You can delete your own reports in your personal area.
The UnitedDataHub valuation calculator
After you consent to “Valuation calculator”, the valuation page, a district or neighbourhood page, or the property passport loads the calculator from udh-immobilienbewertung.uniteddatahub.dev. Your browser connects to this service. You enter form details in the embedded calculator; the surrounding website does not read this content or automatically transfer dossier details into the calculator. Please refer to the information provided there.
